Recap: Ysaÿe, Westhoff and Rosin's Compass at Madison Center for the Arts

October 21, 2026

On October 12, I had the pleasure of performing at Madison Center for the Arts. The programme brought together three very different voices, for solo violin and for violin and piano.

The programme

Eugène Ysaÿe: Sonata No. 4 for solo violin

Johann Paul von Westhoff: Imitazione delle campane

Michael Rosin: Compass, for violin and piano, with Michael at the piano

It was a real joy to share the stage with Michael, whose Compass was written for me. Playing a piece alongside its composer is a rare thing, and it made for a wonderfully alive and collaborative performance.

Compass and the album Instruments‍

Compass is the fourth track on Michael's album Instruments (Blue Griffin Recording), a collection of chamber works inspired by historical scientific instruments. I'm delighted to share that Instruments has been entered for Grammy consideration this year.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Madison Center for the Arts, and to the staff there for such a warm welcome.
